The number of permits to pollute that are created, dictates the levels of pollution we are prepared to tolerate in the future.
Or at least it would do if it wasn't possible to cancel them, keeping them out of the hands of would be polluters.
So Sandbag has been set up to get permits back from the companies they have been handed to, because one less permit equals one less tonne of greenhouse gas pollution in the atmosphere.

We intend to get permits back by persuading companies they should cancel them if they don't need them, but if we have to, we will also enter the market to buy them back.

We also want to make more people aware of what emissions trading is, what it means and how it is working on the ground make sure the rules governing emissions trading are tougher on polluters in the future.
